CRITICAL

Welcome, players! Turn off your phones, grab a cold drink, and let the games begin! Wednesday, May 13th marked the third installment of our popular Code Nights series. However, there was a twist this time around: the coding was already done for us. Instead, it was all about plugging in, booting up, and enjoying some incredible video games together. Gamers of all skill levels gathered for an adventurous evening spanning a massive variety of genres, from cozy automation to high-stakes competition.

Halloween hackathon atmosphere.

Usually, our Code Nights are filled with the steady clacking of keyboards, intense debugging sessions, and endless lines of syntax. But for our third installment, we decided to give our compilers a well-deserved rest. The software was already built, the servers were live, and the only task on the agenda was to plug in, power up, and play. Our team traded their programming hats for gaming headsets, transforming the night into an absolute battleground of digital chaos, cozy automation, and friendly rivalries.

Here is how the action unfolded:

Highlights of the Night

The Icebreaker: Gartic Phone

We kicked off the evening with a chaotic game of Gartic Phone (a digital twist on the classic “Telephone” game). Everyone came up with a bizarre prompt, and the rest of the group had to sketch it or guess the drawing. Laughing at each other’s questionable artistic skills and wild misinterpretations was the perfect way to set a fun, relaxed tone for the night.

The Competion sparkers: UFC & Mario Kart Once the ice was broken, the competitive crowd split off to chase some serious adrenaline:

UFC: Players looking for a digital brawl stepped into the octagon to settle their scores and test their reflexes.

Mario Kart: A masterclass in speed, betrayal, and total destruction. Friendships were briefly questioned over well-timed blue shells.

The Builders: Factorio Not everyone was out for blood! A dedicated group of players sought efficiency over chaos, diving deep into the world of Factorio. They traded fast-paced combat for the satisfying hum of automation, because as any true fan knows: the factory must grow at all costs.

The Chaotic Chefs: Overcooked Teamwork was put to the ultimate test in the kitchen. Gamers had to coordinate burger orders, dodge flying kitchen counters, and avoid falling off a moving hot air balloon. Overcooked brought out the best (and loudest) communication skills in everyone involved.

Lessons Learned & Future Iterations

With so many different types of gamers in our crew, providing a diverse library of games was a massive win. It ensured that everyone found their perfect niche:

Co-op games rewarded tight coordination and built stronger team bonds.

Competitive games delivered high-energy excitement for those looking to test their wits against their peers.

Until Next Time!

Overall, the Game Night was a resounding success. Whether we were forming stronger bonds through intense kitchen management or showing off quick thinking in a race, everyone left with a smile (and maybe a little bit of thumb soreness).

Thank you to everyone who joined! Keep your eyes peeled for our next Code Night, who knows what theme will inspire us next!
